Why Our Water Bowsers Cylindrical In Shape:
Transportation of liquid material involves a very different set of logistics than solid material.
- No Weak Points:
The rectangular shape that container trucks typically come in has what is known as `weak points’ on account of its corners and flat sides. Under extreme pressure, it is more likely to fail than a cylindrical water truck tank, whose elliptical shape has no weak points, and therefore it needs no reinforcement with extra materials for safe transportation.
- Better Volume Capacity:
In an ideal world, the very best solution for a liquid carrier would be a sphere as it holds the most amount of liquid. But a sphere shape is not a viable option in the real world, which is why the `elongated sphere’ shape without hard sides has been universally adopted for the construction of liquid-bearing trucks.
- Stable Transportation:
Another big advantage of the elliptical shape is water stability. During transportation, a water tanker’s center of gravity is closest to the ground if it is elliptical. (A rectangular tank would have had a center of gravity that is much higher.)
- Surge Resistance:
Unlike solid cargo that do not move around much when being carried by a truck, water will surge and slosh powerfully against the sides. This sloshing movement can disbalance a rectangular tanker and easily cause an accident when turning a bend or driving on an incline or over uneven roads. Due to its shape, an elliptical tank will reduce the intensity of the surges, which makes it ideal for safe transportation.
- Easier Maintenance:
Cylindrical tanks are easier to clean as they do not have corners where debris and residual sediment can gather over time.
